I'm Soirsce Artemis Moriarty, the photographer behind Artemis Photography. (The name “Soirsce” is gaelic in origin and pronounced "sear-sha.") I'm a fine art painter and wedding photographer based in Door County, Wisconsin.
I am happiest when I'm creating photos, painting with my water colors and oil paints and spending warm summer days at the beach with my little boy and my love. I enjoy the creative process in all forms and I love being surrounded by nature. I feel really blessed that my job is to capture special moments in other people’s stories, whether that may be a mother's love of her little ones or a couple that’s crazy about each other! I'm happy to travel all over the midwest. Green Bay, Appleton, Milwaukee and Madison, WI, are especially easy for me!
For 2018 I will also be booking weddings in and near the California and New York areas!
I shoot with Canon photography gear. I try to use natural light as much as possible, I find it the most flattering for my subjects.
I love capturing candid moments in time but I am confident in guiding my subjects for posed shots as well. I try to set my subjects up to feel comfortable in the scene while making minor but important posing adjustments so they look their best, this way they look as natural and as “un-posed” as possible.
Soirsce is a fine art painter with a particular fascination with the beauty of the human form. Soirsce grew up in a back-to-the-earth family in a small town in Wisconsin, and spent her childhood running barefoot in the woods with her siblings, playing with her horses and drawing. She enrolled in art school full time at the age of fifteen, graduated at nineteen and started working with photography. She started doing wedding photography in 2009, and her photography work has since been published by many print and online magazines such as Junebug Weddings, Artfully Wed, Le Magnifique Blog, A NorthWoods Wedding, Something Turquoise, Confetti Daydreams and The Peninsula Pulse to name a few.
