HELLO!       I'm Soirsce Artemis Moriarty, the photographer behind Artemis Photography. (The name “Soirsce” is Gaelic in origin and pronounced "sur-sha.") I'm a wedding & family photographer based in Door County, Wisconsin.

I am happiest when I'm creating art-photos or otherwise, riding my horse, tending my little garden and coop and spending warm summer days at the beach with my three kids and my sweetheart. I enjoy the creative process in all forms and I love being surrounded by nature. I feel really blessed that my job is to capture special moments in other people’s stories, whether that may be a mother's love of her little ones or a couple that’s crazy about each other! I'm happy to travel all over the world but Door County, Green Bay, Appleton, Milwaukee and Madison, WI, are especially easy for me!

HOW I WORK      Being photographed is an intimate experience. My interaction-based posing strategy produces artistic imagery and encourages authentic connection, that remarkable moment when real is captured. As a classically trained painter, I also offer traditional, artistically posed portraits. I shoot with Canon photography gear. I try to use natural light as much as possible, I find it the most flattering for my subjects. I love capturing candid moments in time but I am confident in guiding my subjects for posed shots as well. My goal is for my clients to have fun and focus on each other. I try to set my subjects up to feel comfortable in the scene, usually by giving a prompt, and making minor but important posing adjustments so they look their best, this way they look as natural and as “un-posed” as possible. My aesthetic is continually being influenced and refined, but one thing that never changes is my love of film-like editing, the artistry of my craft and capturing deep connections.

HISTORY      Soirsce is a fine art painter with a particular fascination with the beauty of the human form. She has over 14 years of wedding photography experience. She grew up in a back-to-the-earth family in a small town in Wisconsin, and spent her childhood running barefoot in the woods with her siblings, playing with her horses and drawing. She enrolled in art school full time at the age of fifteen, graduated at nineteen and started working with photography. She started doing professional wedding photography in 2009, and her photography work has since been published by many print and online magazines such as Junebug WeddingsTribe Archipelago, Artfully WedLe Magnifique Blog,  A NorthWoods WeddingSomething TurquoiseConfetti Daydreams and The Peninsula Pulse to name a few.
